BRS Leader Demands Removal of Union Minister Over POCSO Case Allegations

Hyderabad — In a sharp attack on the Union government, Bandari Lakshma Reddy, a BRS MLA representing Uppal, has demanded that Bandi Sanjay Kumar step down from his ministerial position. The call comes amid allegations that law enforcement authorities have been tardy in apprehending his son, Sai Bhageerath, in connection with a POCSO case.

Speaking to journalists at Chilukanagar in Hyderabad, Lakshma Reddy contended that despite police awareness of the complainant's minor status, they failed to act with appropriate urgency. He called for stringent measures against Sai Bhageerath and emphasized the necessity of delivering justice to the victim.

The BRS legislator asserted that the BJP should demonstrate its commitment to the matter by removing Bandi Sanjay from the Cabinet. He alleged that government officials were working to undermine the case's strength and shielding the minister's son at the expense of the victim's interests.

Lakshma Reddy further claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were collaborating in what he characterized as a political spectacle. He questioned whether India's judicial system applied different standards depending on a person's economic status and social standing.

The MLA also leveled accusations against the Congress-led state government for allegedly supporting Bandi Sanjay. He expressed concern about the filing of honeytrap and extortion charges against the minor girl involved in the case, raising questions about the government's sincerity in protecting children. He asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Beti Bachao" initiative had evolved beyond mere rhetoric.

Lakshma Reddy urged the Chief Minister to treat the matter with appropriate gravity and ensure that the victim's family receives justice. He warned that the BRS would persist in advocating for the victim should the government fail to take decisive action.
