High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to 20 Accused in Bowenpally Clash Case

Hyderabad's High Court has provided relief to 20 individuals facing serious charges stemming from a violent confrontation that erupted in Bowenpally, Secunderabad, on April 2, 2026. The accused were charged with attempt to murder, rioting, and unlawful assembly following the incident.
Police filed a first information report against 27 persons under various stringent penal provisions. Among them, 20 individuals sought legal recourse through advocates Barkat Ali Khan and Mohammed Azhar, who submitted anticipatory bail applications to the High Court on April 15.
The court conducted hearings on April 17 and April 20 before rendering its decision. After considering arguments from both the prosecution and defence, the High Court approved anticipatory bail for all 20 petitioners.
The initial bail conditions required each accused to furnish two sureties valued at Rs 15,000 each, bringing the total surety obligation to Rs 30,000 per person. However, the defence counsel highlighted that the accused individuals belonged to economically disadvantaged backgrounds and lived below the poverty line, making the surety requirement financially prohibitive for their families.
Recognizing these hardships, Advocate Barkat Ali Khan subsequently filed applications requesting a reduction in the surety amounts. The High Court accepted this plea and revised the requirement downward, reducing each surety from Rs 15,000 to Rs 5,000.
With the modified conditions in place, all 20 accused successfully obtained anticipatory bail despite the gravity of the charges against them. The families of the accused expressed gratitude to both advocates for their pro bono legal representation and efforts in securing the bail relief through the High Court proceedings.
