Bondada Engineering Secures ₹1,338 Crore NTPC Renewable Energy Contract; Solar Portfolio Reaches 5.5 GWp
Bondada Engineering Limited, a leading infrastructure and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company in India, has been awarded a contract by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) for a major renewable energy project in Uttar Pradesh.
The Notification of Award covers the EPC work for a 250 megawatt solar photovoltaic installation paired with a 50 megawatt, 200 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system at Sitapur. The contract is valued at approximately ₹1,338 crore including GST, with an execution timeline of 18 months from the award date.
The project represents a significant step forward for Bondada Engineering's renewable energy division and demonstrates the company's growing prominence in India's clean energy infrastructure sector. The combination of large-scale solar capacity with integrated battery storage reflects the evolving approach to renewable energy deployment, where storage systems play a critical role in maintaining grid stability and ensuring continuous power supply.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a major public sector enterprise in the renewable energy space, selected Bondada Engineering based on the company's track record in executing utility-scale renewable projects, technical proficiency, quality assurance protocols, and ability to meet project timelines.
Following this award, Bondada Engineering's solar EPC portfolio has grown to approximately 5.5 gigawatts of capacity. The company's battery energy storage system order book has simultaneously expanded to around 1.1 gigawatt-hour, creating substantial revenue potential in the coming years.
Dr. Bondada Raghavendra Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Bondada Group, commented on the development: "We are pleased to receive this significant contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. The award reflects our team's technical capabilities, project delivery expertise, and dedication to India's clean energy transition. As renewable energy infrastructure increasingly incorporates advanced storage technologies, this project reinforces our standing in the evolving energy landscape. We are committed to executing this project with rigorous standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency while creating value for our stakeholders."
The project is anticipated to contribute substantially to the company's future financial performance while strengthening its credentials across both solar and energy storage domains. It also supports Bondada Engineering's broader strategic direction of establishing itself as a comprehensive infrastructure partner operating across renewable energy, power systems, telecommunications, and transportation sectors.
India's expanding renewable energy capacity and accelerating battery storage deployment create significant opportunities for established infrastructure companies like Bondada Engineering as the nation progresses toward its sustainable energy objectives.
