BJP Sets Sights on 2028 Telangana Elections with Double-Engine Government Push

Hyderabad — The BJP's national leadership has made clear that securing control of Telangana in the 2028 Assembly elections remains a core priority, with party President Nitin Nabin declaring the objective to establish a "double-engine government" in the state.

Speaking at a Booth Presidents' Conference in Warangal on Monday, Nabin asserted that the BJP had positioned itself as the foremost political alternative to both the Congress and the BRS in Telangana. He attributed the party's growing presence to the dedication of grassroots workers, calling on them to consolidate their organizational presence at every polling booth, register new voters, and ensure that Central government welfare initiatives reach every household.

Nabin highlighted the historical ties between Telangana and the BJP, recalling the party's backing during the statehood movement and acknowledging the parliamentary efforts of late leader Sushma Swaraj in advancing the Telangana statehood process.

Organizational Focus on Community Engagement

The BJP chief urged party workers to establish connections across all sections of society, envisioning the party as a vehicle for the aspirations of diverse communities. He characterized BJP cadres as dedicated full-time public servants committed to continuous engagement with constituents.

In remarks targeting Congress leadership, Nabin characterized Rahul Gandhi as a "part-time politician," contrasting this with the year-round commitment of BJP workers to public interaction and service.

Development Model and Political Critique

Nabin cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12-year tenure as evidence of decisive security management, referencing military operations including surgical strikes and air strikes as demonstrations of firm responses to external threats.

Launching a broader political offensive, the BJP president accused both Congress and BRS of perpetuating dynastic politics while failing to realize the vision behind Telangana's creation. He further alleged that the Congress government had shortchanged public welfare initiatives.

The BJP leadership reiterated its commitment to development-centered governance rather than vote-bank politics, emphasizing nationalism, public service, and inclusive growth as guiding principles. Nabin expressed confidence that the party would form the next government in Telangana in 2028, calling on party workers to mobilize efforts toward building a "Viksit Telangana" and "Viksit Warangal"—developed Telangana and developed Warangal.
