Hyderabad — Raghunandan Rao, a BJP national leader and Member of Parliament from Medak, launched a campaign against Left-wing political influence during a visit to Khammam city on Tuesday. He sought to energise party cadres ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled public gathering in Secunderabad on May 10.

The BJP leader took aim at the Congress-led state government in Telangana, asserting that it has failed farmers by declining to adopt the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a central agricultural insurance initiative. Rao highlighted recent fire incidents that ravaged approximately 200 acres of paddy cultivation in the district, arguing that affected cultivators would have received compensation under the crop insurance scheme had the state implemented it.

During his Khammam visit, Rao participated in wall painting activities as part of the BJP's grassroots campaign efforts. He addressed journalists on matters spanning national politics, state governance, and agricultural concerns, emphasising that voters nationwide favour development, confidence in institutions, and consistent administration.

Rao contended that political formations rooted in dynastic structures and personality-centric leadership continue losing electoral ground. He pointed to political shifts across regions from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu as evidence of expanding backing for the BJP under Modi's stewardship.

The Medak MP also criticised the Congress and Communist parties over their participation in the INDIA opposition alliance, noting a contradiction between their national-level cooperation and their continued rivalry in Kerala. He cited BJP electoral triumphs in Gujarat, West Bengal, and Puducherry as demonstrations of voters rejecting both the Congress and Left parties.

Rao commended Modi for ensuring equitable treatment of all states and charting a development-focused course for the nation. He urged the Revanth Reddy government to cease politicising agricultural matters and state development, contending that states prioritising farmer welfare experience accelerated progress.

The BJP leader challenged party workers to concentrate efforts on securing BJP rule in Telangana during the forthcoming Assembly elections. He recalled that among only two BJP MPs elected nationwide in 1980, one represented Hanumakonda in Telangana. Rao declared that the BJP has expanded substantially across India and now seeks to establish its presence on Kakatiya soil, calling upon Khammam residents to reject Left parties and support the BJP for political transformation and district advancement.

He made a final appeal to party members and citizens to participate in substantial numbers at Modi's Secunderabad Parade Grounds event on May 10. The programme was coordinated by Nelluri Koteswara Rao, the BJP's Khammam district president, with participation from multiple state and district-level party officials.
