Hyderabad: A Cabinet Sub-Committee gathering convened at Praja Bhavan to examine the status of the Musi rejuvenation initiative, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presiding over the session. Ministers Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar participated alongside senior government officials.

During the meeting, Vikramarka underscored the administration's commitment to a people-first methodology in executing the ambitious project. He noted that project planners had recalibrated the route design to curtail disruptions to homes and standing infrastructure across the city.

The government has successfully procured ₹7,055 crore in funding from the Asian Development Bank to support Phase-I operations. Construction will commence on the initial 5-kilometre segment, spanning from Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar through to Bapughat.

The comprehensive initiative encompasses construction of a 55-kilometre elevated passageway linking Narsingi to Gourelli, alongside infrastructure for rubber dams and state-of-the-art wastewater processing systems.

Vikramarka indicated that technical expertise from IIT and JNTU would guide the project's implementation. The administration has established December 2027 as the target completion date for the rejuvenation effort.

The Deputy Chief Minister characterised the undertaking as a civic endeavour designed to position Hyderabad as a sustainable, internationally competitive metropolitan centre.
