Bhatti Urges Unified Approach to Boost Arts, Tourism and Temple Heritage in Telangana

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has urged the Culture, Tourism and Endowments Departments to work in closer sync to advance arts and culture while generating sustainable employment for artists across Telangana.

Speaking at the Ardhanareeswaram National Dance Festival held at Ravindra Bharathi, where he served as the chief guest, Bhatti emphasised the need for integrated efforts to preserve traditional art forms and expand the scope of opportunities available to performers throughout the state.

He highlighted that temple complexes have historically functioned as vital venues for showcasing fine arts and fostering cultural expression. Drawing on historical precedent, Bhatti noted that past rulers leveraged dance and artistic performances to communicate spiritual and social themes to communities.

Blending Culture with Economic Growth

The Deputy Chief Minister put forward a proposal to adapt Kerala's successful model within Telangana by featuring indigenous art forms at prominent tourist hubs. He suggested that regular evening performances of classical and traditional arts at such locations would enhance the experience for visitors while simultaneously creating jobs for artists.

Bhatti expressed optimism that collaborative planning among the relevant state departments would yield meaningful outcomes in promoting traditional arts across both sacred spaces and tourism centres.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao attended the event alongside Bhatti, with both officials honouring accomplished artists.

The Significance of Ardhanareeswaram

Addressing the festival's thematic focus, Bhatti discussed the philosophical meaning behind Ardhanareeswaram, explaining that it represents the ideal of gender equality. He described the concept as embodying the balanced interplay of masculine and feminine principles, noting that this equilibrium is essential for creation and prosperity.

According to Bhatti, the symbolism underscores that when both genders work together with dignity and respect, society flourishes and progresses.

The Deputy Chief Minister extended a warm welcome to performers who travelled from across India to participate in the festival, reiterating that Telangana prides itself on its tradition of hospitality. He expressed hope that the visiting artists would depart with cherished recollections of their time in the state.

Both Bhatti and Krishna Rao recognised several performers during the occasion. The event also saw the presence of Sangeet Natak Akademi Chairperson Alekhya Punjala and other prominent figures.
