BASF to Establish Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad

Hyderabad is set to welcome a significant expansion of BASF's operations in India. The multinational chemical corporation has executed a Letter of Intent with the Telangana government to develop both a global digital hub and a Global Service Hub in the city.
Operations at the digital hub are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2026, marking a substantial commitment from the international company. The agreement was formalized during an exchange involving Sarvesh Singh, CEO of Telangana Lifesciences, and Tobias Dratt, President of Global Business Services at BASF. Telangana Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu was present at the signing ceremony.
Recognizing Hyderabad's growing prominence in the technology services sector, Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that the city has become a preferred hub for Global Capability Centres, with over 75 such centres added during the preceding year. The state government has set an ambitious target to bring in more than 100 additional GCCs while simultaneously generating approximately one lakh new employment opportunities in the current year.
According to the Minister, Hyderabad is undergoing a transformation from a startup incubation centre to a comprehensive innovation and engineering ecosystem. BASF's initiative aligns seamlessly with this developmental trajectory, as the company intends to establish a workforce of 3,000 personnel within the city.
BASF maintains a global presence across more than 200 nations and operates 234 manufacturing facilities worldwide. The organization currently employs over 108,000 individuals and generates annual revenues in the vicinity of $60 billion.
The company's selection of Hyderabad followed a comprehensive evaluation of potential locations globally. The twin hubs will function as part of BASF Global Business Services Private Limited and will provide support across finance, human resources, supply chain management, regulatory affairs, and internal consulting services.
The hiring process will proceed through phased implementation. Upon full operationalization, the combined facilities are expected to employ 3,000 qualified professionals, further solidifying Hyderabad's standing as a premier destination for multinational enterprises.
