Bandi Sanjay Kumar Vows Swift Action in Karimnagar Jewellery Heist Investigation

Hyderabad — Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has assured the public that those behind the armed robbery at PMJ jewellery store in Jyothinagar will face arrest, reaffirming confidence in the investigation following the violent incident that unfolded on Sunday.

After inspecting the targeted store, Kumar provided details of how the heist unfolded. Five individuals, who initially posed as ordinary customers, orchestrated the attack. The operation began when one person requested to view a 20-gram gold chain, a request that served as a pretext. Two additional individuals subsequently entered the premises, followed by a fifth accomplice, before the group launched their coordinated robbery attempt.

During the assault, the assailants wielded firearms and communicated in both Telugu and Hindi while threatening the store's employees. When staff resisted the robbery, the attackers opened fire, leaving several workers wounded. Kumar noted that the injured employees are now stable and will be transferred to Hyderabad to receive specialised medical care.

Immediate police response included extensive combing operations launched across Karimnagar upon receiving word of the incident. Kumar revealed that he examined CCTV recordings from the jewellery store and gathered statements from staff members to reconstruct the sequence of events. He also consulted with the Police Commissioner and district-level law enforcement officials to review investigation progress.

Forensic specialists and investigative teams have already processed the crime scene. Authorities are currently scrutinising surveillance footage from multiple cameras, including feeds connected to the command control centre, to identify the perpetrators. One bag was left behind by the suspects during their escape, though the precise value and quantity of items stolen remain to be confirmed following a thorough inquiry.

Kumar characterised the incident as shocking and commended the store staff for their bravery in standing up to the attackers despite facing grave danger. He reiterated his commitment that police will locate and arrest all those involved in the robbery.
