Former BRS MLA Balka Suman Arrested Over Controversial Remarks on Singareni

Hyderabad: Nampally police apprehended former BRS MLA Balka Suman on Saturday in relation to multiple cases stemming from his purported comments about Singareni and public assets.

Officers proceeded to Telangana Bhavan after learning of Suman's presence at the location. The situation quickly turned tense as BRS supporters gathered to obstruct police personnel and voice opposition through slogans.

Before being taken into police custody, Suman made brief remarks to journalists. He was subsequently transported to Nampally Police Station for further processing.

In his statement prior to arrest, Suman contended that the Congress administration was singling him out for challenging its governance approach. He reinforced his ongoing objections to the government's commitments regarding employment prospects at Singareni.

Suman asserted that authorities have filed over 250 cases against him previously on political grounds. He expressed his determination to persist in voicing opposition to government initiatives.

According to Nampally ACP Praveen, the police action was initiated following a formal complaint lodged by a Singareni official. The complaint alleged that Suman had made incendiary statements targeting the organisation. The ACP clarified that police arrived at Telangana Bhavan to deliver notice and secure Suman's custody as part of their investigation.

Suman's legal representatives disclosed that an anticipatory bail application had already been filed on his behalf. The defence team challenged the applicability of certain charges brought against the former legislator.

The legal team also indicated that Suman would extend full cooperation to investigators while pursuing available legal avenues through the judicial system.

The situation emerged from statements attributed to Suman in recent public addresses. Police have alleged that his remarks included calls for protest actions resembling militant tactics and commentary concerning Singareni facilities and railway infrastructure.

Following public backlash regarding these statements, authorities registered cases at both Abids and Nampally police stations. Action was taken after information surfaced that Suman had been staying at Telangana Bhavan for approximately two days.
