Telangana's top police official has laid down stringent security protocols ahead of the Bakrid festival, cautioning all individuals and organisations against any actions that could compromise peace, public order, or communal harmony during the celebrations.

Director General of Police C.V. Anand convened a video conference bringing together senior administrators from policing, municipal governance, revenue collection, and animal welfare departments to assess readiness and ensure coordinated responses across the state.

The meeting included participation from Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Animal Husbandry Secretary K. Ilambarthi, ranking revenue officials, district police commissioners, superintendents of police, and ground-level officers.

The security review was initiated following instructions from the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister during their separate meetings, where they emphasised the need for heightened vigilance regarding unauthorised cattle transportation and smuggling throughout the festival period.

Police forces will rigorously implement the Cow Slaughter Act, the Transport of Animals Rules, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, with warnings of severe consequences for those who breach these regulations.

Comprehensive Border and Internal Checkpoints

To prevent illegal cattle movement, law enforcement has positioned 52 interstate checkpoints along Telangana's borders with adjacent states. An additional 203 checkpoints have been activated throughout Telangana to monitor cattle-related activities.

Police personnel have received instructions to conduct thorough vehicle checks and validate transportation documentation. The authorities have also mandated intensified monitoring at livestock markets scheduled for the coming period.

The DGP has explicitly directed officers to prevent any group or individual from taking enforcement into their own hands. Police have issued warnings against spreading false information, manufacturing discord, or stoking tensions through physical confrontations or digital platforms.

District police commissioners and superintendents will engage in regular coordination sessions with community leaders to prevent misinterpretations and facilitate harmonious festival observance across all districts.

Officials have confirmed that security operations will remain in effect throughout Telangana to uphold law and order while enabling the peaceful celebration of Bakrid.
