Axis Bank Deploys AI Tools to Streamline Compliance Processes for Business Customers

May 7, 2026

Bangalore — Axis Bank, among India's largest private sector banking institutions, has unveiled a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence-powered compliance tools aimed at simplifying regulatory procedures for its current account customer base. The initiative represents a major shift toward digitising workflows that have traditionally demanded substantial manual intervention and extended timelines.

The bank's new offerings comprise two primary components: an intelligent ReKYC system and a Digital Business Profile Update Service. Both leverage cutting-edge technology to accelerate verification and reduce administrative burden on businesses.

The Digital Business Profile Update Service permits current account holders to revise business information—particularly the nature of their operations—through a fully digital, paperless pathway. By harnessing generative artificial intelligence alongside real-time GST filing information, the platform automatically determines and applies the most fitting occupation classification from a database exceeding 3,000 categories. This eliminates the conventional need for manual paperwork, physical documentation, or in-branch appointments.

Tasks that historically consumed considerable resources and time can now be processed instantaneously with substantially enhanced precision, supported by GST-verified data validation. For customers, the arrangement delivers a completely paperless transaction, instantaneous processing, and a simplified digital interface. Operational and branch personnel benefit from reduced manual workload, diminished administrative load, and fewer processing errors. For the institution, the deployment marks one of the initial broad implementations of large language models integrated with GST data to enhance operational efficiency while reinforcing compliance standards.

Axis Bank has simultaneously introduced its intelligent ReKYC solution for non-individual current account customers nationwide. The system transforms what has conventionally been a labour-intensive, documentation-reliant, and mistake-prone undertaking into a structured, technology-assisted procedure. The rollout encompasses major customer classifications representing approximately 90 percent of ReKYC activity volumes.

The mechanism employs sophisticated document analysis capabilities to recognise, retrieve, and confirm multiple KYC documents presented within consolidated PDF formats. Branch personnel receive instantaneous guidance, with the technology identifying absent documentation, incomplete information, or submission quality concerns directly during data capture. This represents a fundamental transition from retrospective, reactive compliance verification toward forward-looking, preventive methodologies.

Preliminary results demonstrate substantial decreases in rework requirements and follow-up activities, speedier completion cycles, and heightened efficiency across branch and back-office divisions. The structured guidance systems are anticipated to lower Not First Time Right rejection percentages, elevate First Time Right achievement rates, and establish more robust, extensible compliance frameworks throughout the banking network.

Sameer Shetty, Group Executive for Digital Business, Transformation & Strategic Programs at Axis Bank, remarked on the development: "Our strategy centres on reconfiguring significant regulatory workflows through intelligent mechanisation. Through these AI-powered compliance tools, labour-intensive and error-susceptible operations are transitioning to automated, intelligence-driven systems. The convergence of generative artificial intelligence, document analysis, and live GST information enables us to streamline intricate processes across large customer bases—delivering customers with expedited, paper-free transactions whilst reinforcing compliance and organisational stability. These introductions represent a pivotal advancement in our vision to establish advanced, AI-centric infrastructure that deepens confidence, openness, and accessibility across all business banking interactions."
