Ashoka University Opens Final Round of Applications for M.A. in Economics and Data Analytics

June 19, 2026

Ashoka University, a premier interdisciplinary research institution based in the Delhi-NCR region, has opened the final application window for its M.A. programme in Economics and Data Analytics. The initiative welcomes graduates across all academic disciplines and aims to develop their quantitative, analytical, and data-driven capabilities for careers spanning finance, consulting, analytics, public policy, research, and business intelligence.

The application deadline is set for June 29, 2026.

The one-year programme distinguishes itself through a curriculum that balances technical rigor with practical industry application. Recognising the diversity of incoming students, the programme includes a two-week Mathematics camp preceding the first semester to ensure all participants have foundational skills. The core coursework encompasses microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, time series analysis, statistical learning, and data analytics.

Beyond these fundamentals, students access specialised courses including Machine Learning Models for Economics, Financial Risk Analytics, Cloud Analytics, and Data Visualisation. This combination equips graduates to work with large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and address complex challenges across multiple sectors.

The curriculum integrates economic analysis with advanced data capabilities, enabling students to interpret markets, institutions, and policy through both theoretical and empirical frameworks. Graduates emerge prepared for roles in analytics, consulting, finance, policy research, business intelligence, and academic research.

Prof. Ashwini Deshpande, Economics Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Ashoka University, commented on the programme's relevance: "Contemporary challenges in business, finance, public policy, and development demand professionals capable of merging economic reasoning with data-driven analysis. This programme provides students with robust training in economics, econometrics, statistical learning, and analytics, enabling them to extract insights from complex information and apply these to practical problems. Graduates are positioned for meaningful contributions across industry, research, policymaking, and higher education."

Eligibility and Application Process

Prospective candidates must hold either a four-year undergraduate degree or a Master's qualification. While the programme welcomes applicants from varied fields, those with background training in Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar quantitatively-focused disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.

The admission process begins with submission of an online application via the Ashoka University admissions portal. Applications undergo screening through an admission assessment. Candidates who advance from this stage receive invitations to participate in interviews. Following successful interviews, the university extends admission offers, after which candidates complete enrolment and onboarding procedures.

The application portal remains active until June 29, 2026, with further programme details available through Ashoka University's official channels.
