Delhi Cantonment Gets First Social Enterprise Café Supporting Armed Forces Youth

Delhi Cantonment has welcomed a groundbreaking social enterprise in the form of 'Asha – The Hope Café', unveiled today as a pioneering venture dedicated to empowering young people with special needs from military families.
The café represents a novel approach to creating sustainable livelihoods by merging hospitality training with employment prospects for this underserved demographic. United Spirits Limited has provided crucial Corporate Social Responsibility backing for the establishment, while the Army Women's Welfare Association will oversee its day-to-day operations.
Positioned as an upscale café with a community-focused mission, the establishment combines professional hospitality management with a commitment to social impact. The venue features carefully curated artisanal products and contemporary operational systems designed to meet industry standards.
Beyond simply offering jobs, the café will deliver comprehensive training programmes spanning hospitality management, café operations, baking, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial skills. Organisers envision this model as a template that could be replicated across other cantonments nationwide.
"Our Learning for Life initiative has consistently worked towards developing competencies and generating employment opportunities in the hospitality domain for young people, individuals with disabilities, and now for service personnel and their loved ones," said Devashish Dasgupta, Director of Corporate Relations at Diageo India. "We are delighted to collaborate with AWWA on this meaningful endeavour."
