Five-member armed gang strikes Karimnagar jewellery store in daylight heist, leaves guards wounded

A bold jewellery store heist in Karimnagar has left four security guards nursing gunshot wounds after an organised gang struck in broad daylight on Sunday. The incident has prompted police to review protective protocols at jewellery shops across the region.

The robbery unfolded at a store located on Jagitial Road when five assailants on two motorcycles descended on the premises while staff members were retrieving items from the safe. Armed with firearms, the intruders confronted security personnel who attempted to block their path. When the guards resisted, the attackers opened fire, wounding all four before making off with precious jewellery and ornaments.

All four injured guards were transported to hospital facilities for emergency care. One among them remains in a serious condition and continues to receive medical supervision.

Eyewitnesses recounted how the attackers arrived on motorcycles and swiftly moved into action as employees were handling jewellery. The confrontation turned violent when security staff tried to prevent the robbery, triggering the gunfire that left multiple personnel hurt. The criminals subsequently fled the location with their stolen haul.

Police and forensic specialists arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Investigation teams have begun the process of gathering physical evidence and scrutinising surveillance recordings from the jewellery store as well as adjoining areas to identify the perpetrators.
