Hyderabad Community Mobilises Against Drug Abuse Through Awareness Drive in Chintal Basti

Hyderabad witnessed a significant community mobilisation against drug abuse as Saifabad Police partnered with Nirmala High School to conduct an awareness march through Chintal Basti on Thursday.

The initiative drew participation from roughly 150 individuals, including students, police personnel, and teaching staff who traversed the locality while voicing slogans against drug use and informing residents of the destructive consequences of substance abuse.

Police Station House Officer A. Seethaiah from Saifabad Police Station called upon the community to maintain heightened alertness regarding drug-related offences. In his remarks to the assembled participants, he underscored the critical contribution that young people and schools must make in establishing a drug-free environment across the city. He further appealed to citizens to promptly share any intelligence regarding drug trafficking or consumption.

The march formed part of Hyderabad's broader initiative aimed at fostering a society free from narcotic substances. The event underscored the importance of enlisting public cooperation and channelling youth energy into combating substance misuse.

Principal Lakshmi of Nirmala High School, along with her faculty and student body, worked alongside police officials to orchestrate the programme. Coordinators emphasised that the rally sought to illuminate the multifaceted harms of drug abuse—spanning personal health, family stability, and social cohesion. Organisers stressed that sustained community engagement would prove instrumental in curbing substance abuse across the region.
