TRS Chief Kavitha Condemns Arrest of Journalist K.V. Reddy by Andhra Pradesh Police

Hyderabad: The detention of journalist K.V. Reddy by Andhra Pradesh Police has sparked sharp political backlash, with Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) Chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha calling for his immediate release.

Officers from Badangi Police Station in Vizianagaram district arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening in civilian dress and took K.V. Reddy into custody. According to eyewitness accounts, the journalist's family attempted to resist the action. After informing Saroornagar Police Station, the officers transported him to Andhra Pradesh in a private vehicle. Video footage of the incident subsequently went viral across social media platforms.

Kavitha levelled serious allegations against both police forces, asserting that Telangana law enforcement had facilitated the Andhra Pradesh operation. She specifically criticised the police for allegedly preventing the journalist's wife and children from approaching him during the detention.

The TRS leader also raised broader concerns about selective enforcement, questioning the inaction of authorities against film industry figures who have made controversial statements about Telangana. Kavitha argued that this disparity revealed a pattern of bias, with journalists from the state facing police action while similar conduct by others went unaddressed.

Reiterating her demand for K.V. Reddy's release, Kavitha pledged that the Telangana Rakshana Sena would provide support to the journalist's family throughout the ordeal.
