Amazon Brings Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio to India with Advanced Audio and Smart Home Features

Amazon has introduced the Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio smart speakers to the Indian market, positioning both devices as premium offerings designed to deliver superior audio quality alongside advanced smart home functionality.
The Echo Dot Max represents a significant upgrade within Amazon's compact speaker range, delivering approximately three times the bass output compared to its predecessor, the Echo Dot (5th Gen). The device employs a redesigned audio architecture that nearly doubles the internal air space of previous generations, housing a two-way speaker configuration with a high-excursion woofer engineered for deep bass reproduction and a dedicated tweeter for clear treble frequencies. Sound automatically calibrates to suit different room environments.
The Echo Studio brings immersive audio through spatial audio technology and Dolby Atmos support, creating a surround sound effect that adds dimension and clarity. The speaker combines a powerful woofer with three strategically positioned full-range drivers to fill rooms with sound. It features a contemporary spherical design wrapped in 3D knit fabric that preserves acoustic integrity.
Both speakers are built with Amazon's custom AZ3 silicon chips—Echo Dot Max uses the standard AZ3, while Echo Studio employs the enhanced AZ3 Pro variant. These processors improve the system's ability to detect Alexa's wake word by nearly 50 percent and enhance conversation recognition capabilities.
A standout feature of both devices is Omnisense, Amazon's proprietary sensor technology designed for ambient AI applications. The system integrates multiple sensing methods—audio, ultrasound, WiFi radar, and accelerometer readings—to detect room occupancy, motion, and temperature variations. This enables smart home routines to respond automatically to environmental conditions without explicit user commands.
The speakers come with built-in smart home hubs supporting multiple connectivity standards including Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread, Matter, and Bluetooth. Echo Dot Max marks the first device in the Echo Dot lineup to include an integrated hub. Users can manage Alexa-compatible devices such as lights, air conditioners, fans, and smart plugs directly from these speakers.
Music, podcasts, and audiobooks stream through popular services including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, JioSaavn, and Audible. The devices support voice commands for everyday tasks such as setting timers and alarms, checking weather conditions, and creating shopping lists.
Malvika Jethwani, Echo and Smart Home Country Lead for Amazon India, stated: "With Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio, we're delivering premium audio experiences that raise the bar for smart speakers. Echo Dot Max delivers improved bass through a redesigned audio architecture and Echo Studio offers spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, with Alexa built into both. But we also know that smart speakers today go far beyond audio—our customers use them as their smart home control centre, daily assistant, and family companion. Both these devices feature Omnisense, our custom sensor platform that senses presence in the room, detects motion, and reads temperature, so the smart home responds proactively."
For home theater setups, users can connect up to five Echo Studio or Echo Dot Max devices with compatible Fire TV sticks to establish a multi-room surround sound experience.
Privacy protections include a physical microphone mute button and the ability to review and remove voice recordings through the Alexa app. The Alexa Privacy Hub provides additional information on privacy safeguards built into the devices.
The Echo Dot Max retails for ₹10,999 and comes in Graphite, Amethyst, and Glacier White finishes. The Echo Studio is priced at ₹23,999 in Graphite and Glacier White options. Both are available through Amazon.in and Flipkart.
Amazon Prime members purchasing through Amazon.in using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card receive 5 percent cashback along with free and fast pan-India delivery.
The speakers are designed to work with Alexa+, Amazon's generative AI-powered assistant, once the service becomes available in India. Amazon has also announced that Prime Day will return for its tenth edition in July, offering members exclusive deals and new product launches.
