ACB Investigates Deputy Collector Over Land Registration Irregularities

Hyderabad — The Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched a probe into a Ranga Reddy district deputy collector on suspicion of amassing disproportionate assets, conducting raids across multiple locations on Thursday.
The investigation centres on Deputy Collector Vamsi Mohan, who previously held the position of Revenue Divisional Officer in Serilingampally. Authorities suspect he may have illegally facilitated the registration of substantial government land parcels while serving in that role.
The raids extended to nine locations in total, including Mohan's residence and the Urban Land Ceiling section at the Medchal-Malkajgiri Collectorate.
According to investigators, approximately eight acres of government land in Abdullapurmet and Piglipuram are at the centre of the allegations. The investigation suggests the land was initially registered under the name of Mohan's father-in-law before being transferred to real estate developers through gift deeds, raising questions about the legitimacy of these transactions.
The ACB is scrutinising the chain of property transfers and examining whether the registrations violated regulations. Officials are also investigating potential irregularities in government land records related to these cases.
A separate line of inquiry involves the alleged disappearance and tampering of Urban Land Ceiling files. Investigators suspect that significant financial transactions may have occurred in connection with the suspected manipulation of records. The bureau's examination of documents held in the Urban Land Ceiling section of the collectorate continues.
The agency has not yet disclosed the estimated value of assets uncovered during the searches.
