Hyderabad's Anti-Corruption Bureau executed a successful operation at Boinpally police station on Wednesday, catching a woman sub-inspector and a police writer in the act of accepting bribes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as woman SI Kiran Nandita and police writer Vijay Kumar. According to ACB officials, they were apprehended while accepting Rs 30,000 from a complainant.

The case originated when a Boinpally resident faced two separate legal matters initiated by his father relating to family disagreements. Court directives required the man to appear at the police station every Monday as part of the case proceedings.

When the complainant informed police writer Vijay Kumar of his relocation to Kondapur and requested relief from the weekly attendance requirement, Kumar initially quoted Rs 15,000. He allegedly specified that Rs 10,000 would be directed to the woman SI and Rs 5,000 would be his share.

Following this initial demand, Vijay Kumar subsequently told the complainant that the amount had risen to Rs 30,000 following consultations with the sub-inspector. The complainant then approached ACB officials with the information and submitted a formal complaint.

On the day of the operation, the complainant arrived with the cash as directed by woman SI Kiran Nandita. Rather than accepting the money directly, she instructed him to place it in the storage compartment of her scooter. After depositing the cash and returning the keys, the complainant departed.

ACB personnel, who had been monitoring the entire transaction, subsequently detained both Kiran Nandita and Vijay Kumar and recovered the bribe amount.

Background details revealed that Kiran Nandita is part of the 2024 batch of sub-inspectors, while Vijay Kumar has served in the police department as a constable since 2007.
